Recently, while reading through the diaries of Plaidbeard the
Pirate, we came across this excerpt which seems to indicate some
booty which was lost in a storm:
". . . March 25 We set out to plunder a trove that were located
near the lighthouse. . . Scarcely had we left from pillagin' when
foul winds came up, forcin' us to lash down ever'thing on deck . .
.the chest fill'd wi' me most precious treasure were secured wi'
chains about me neck, but when we counted the deck stores we were
one box short, the one containing last-minute packing. . ." "March
26 . . . sent search parties ashore, but unable to locate the
chest, prob'ly sank from the weight. . ."
We believe that the chest washed up on shore, but the crew
either couldn't find it or hid it from Plaidbeard to claim later
for themselves. From the clues in the diary we can postulate that:
1) the chest is within sight of the lighthouse, 2) it's probably
hidden along the shoreline or an inlet.
One does not need to be clever (i.e. going in a direct line) in
following coordinates or clues. One just follows the natural paths
until the final scramble.
Remember to bring $3 ransom money (park fee). Per person.
