The cache is along the scenic Findlay Riverwalk, on the "Old Mill
Stream Trail"
"Down by the Old Mill Stream. Where I first met you, With your eyes
of blue, Dressed in gingham too, It was there I knew, That you
loved me true- You were sixteen-My Village Queen, By the Old Mill
Stream." This is the chorus of the famous song penned by Tell
Taylor in 1910. The song was written along the Blanchard River in
Findlay. Tell Taylor was a resident and teacher in Findlay before
he became a famous song writter and moved to New York. The mill in
the song is a few miles up stream and was called the Misamore Mill.
As all good stories go, there was a controversy over the exact
authorship. A Mr. Earl Smith claimed authorship along with Tell. At
the posted coordinates you will find a dedication plaque for the
Old Mill Stream Trail and Riverwalk. What was the
date______________ in September 1987 that the trail was dedicated?
Add this number to the Latitued (N) of the coordinated below to
find the cache. Go To: N 41-02 (448)......W 83-38.847 Since this is
an urban cache and there are lots of people around, some stealth is
required. A lot different than a box in the woods. The cache is a
magnetized hide-a-key box. Go to the coordinates, REST YOUR ARMS ON
THE TOP OF THE WOODEN RAILING and look due EAST down the river.
While trying to be nonchalant, whistle the song and feel around to
the back of the iron support. This is a blind hunt. The log book is
VERY small, so please only log your name and date on one line, and
BRING A PENCIL. Have fun and keep whistling.
