Sculptured Oak Trail Traditional Cache
Team Bugg!: I am officially archiving this cache because I didn't see it anywhere around the area, and this location is much too hazardous right now to put a replacement- I was also stung by a wasp (like a previous cacher mentioned). We'll put another cache in this park in the next couple of months, but it won't be in this spot!

The cache is in Myrtle Beach State Park on Hwy 17 business in Myrtle Beach, SC. The entrance fee is $3 per person or an annual state park pass can be purchased for $50. SC residents can get a drastically reduced price on the annual pass- just check with the Parks & Recreation department in your local counties. The annual passes are good at all SC state parks and allow entry for everyone in the vehicle.
When you enter the park, the Sculptured Oak trail is on the right (blue sign) with parking to your left. If you go in this way, use the part of the trail that branches left towards the pier. Or you can go all the way down to the gift shop on the beach and park at the first set of restrooms on the right past the gift shop. There is a sign there indicating the trail. Watch for snakes and bring your insect repellant!
The cache is only about 6 feet off the trail, so there is no need to fight through the underbrush. I will stress again that you should be on the lookout for snakes and poke a stick in the cache spot to check it for critters before sticking your hands in there!
The cache is a clear, rectangular plastic container with a blue lid. Please close it tightly, put it back in the hiding spot, and cover it THOROUGHLY with some sticks and leaves. The original cache container went missing and this is the replacement.

I enjoy going to the beach here at any time of year. It's so much prettier that the stretches of beach that are cluttered with hotels. Bring a picnic lunch, sunscreen and some beach towels so you can stay a while!
