The path always has locals walking themselves or their dogs. Once at Salt Creek, you can sit and watch the surfers and body boarders, take a nice long stroll over to Strands Beach, or go walk around the Ritz pretending you are a guest staying there.
There are many different ways to get to this cache, but the one I recommend is listed below. If you are planning on spending some time at the beach (i.e. bringing chairs and coolers and stuff) OR you are planning to do this one at night, this is not the place to park, since its a fairly long walk. For closer parking, email me.
Recommended parking: N33° 29.538 W117° 42.873 (its on Del Avion between Niguel and Crown Valley)-- From either Golden Lantern, Niguel, or Crown Valley, get onto Del Avion. If you are comming from Crown Valley, you will have to do a u-turn at the second light on Del Avion beacuse you can only park on the side of the street that heads in the direction of Crown Valley. There is a little strech of the shoulder that can fit about 10-12 cars that is specifically for trail. You will recognize it beacuse it starts right where the bike lane ends, and ends well before the bridge. There is almost always at least one car parked there.
If you would like a just under 8 mile round trip bike ride or hike to the cache, park at either the dog park lot used for my SJC 360/Ridge Line Trail cache, or at the Chapparosa sports park (a little closer) at the end of Chapparosa Park Road which is accessible from Golden Lantern. It is a completely paved trail (except for one optional route down from the dog park).
Finally, it was very difficult for me to get a good reading... but the location should be kind of obvious once you are within abuot 40 feet (I hope! please give me feed back on the difficulty, or if you can get a better reading, please post it). The cache container is the same black plastic cylinder with a clear plastic lid used for my SJC caches. Good luck!
