Geocache Description:

Located close to Jasper Peak fire tower, near Soudan, MN. Steep Hill, but well marked trail.

This cache is located about 3/4 of the way up the trail to the Jasper Peak fire tower. It is off the left side, as you go up. You will need to go a short distance off the trail as it is NOT located directly alongside the trail.

The hill is steep, and although well worn, it can be challenging. Use sturdy hiking boots, and be careful if it's wet or snowy conditions.

Jasper Peak Fire tower is well worth the visit as long as you're so close. Depending on the time of year and visibility, you can see a good portion of Lake Vermilion to the north, Soudan and Tower to the west, nearly all the way to Ely in the east, and much of the Laurentian Divide to the south and southwest. Look for the mines--Minntac and LTV to the south and southwest. You may be able to see Giants Ridge Ski Hill if it's snowy.

Picture of cache will be included, but it's in a blue coffee can in a small depression near a large pine tree. Original contents include:

Logbook/pencils
Trioxane Fuel Bar
MN Twins Keychain
License Holder
Candle
Daisy BB's
