Geocache Description:

Very short hike to cache if on a quad. Jeeps a little farther. City jeeps without scratches not recommended. Long wheel base 4X4 pickups not recommended. Cars will not make it.

You will need to get about 1.5 miles north of the coke ovens (N33 07.504,
W111 09.684), (called jct A). To get here you may take any of the following:

* On us 60 turn south at the second flag pole east of Florence junction and go to
N33 08.980, W111 12.084. go east to E33 09.190, W111 12.084; now turn south to jct A north of coke ovens.

* on az 79 south of Florence junction turn east on Cottonwood road (mile marker 144) and go several miles and you will come to a tee turn right and you will be on the same road as above. Follow those directions now.

* THE RAILROAD HAS BLOCKED THE CROSSING NEAR THE BRIDGE AND TUNNEL WITH SOME WHEELS AND A BIG TRENCH. YOU MUST CROSS THE RIVER NEAR COCHRAN BUT THERE IS A STEEP HILL ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE RIVER.

On AZ 79 South of Florence go east on Florence Kelvin highway (about 15 miles) through the big wash turn north towards Cochran and cross the river near the railroad bridge and tunnel. Go East along the fenced on the north side of the river (note this area is often muddy and has deep ruts after rain) past the coke ovens. From the coke ovens take the East loop up the mountain to jct A.

* On AZ 177 at N33 10.762 W111 02.350 go SW; at N33 09.567 W111 03.174 go W &NW; at N33 09.883 W111 03.806 go W through white canyon; near N33 09.634 W111 05.525 road goes S; at N33 08.059 W111 05.708 go right; at N33 07.761 W111 06.197 go S & W to coke ovens. From the coke ovens take the East loop up the mountain to jct A.

From jct A go NE for almost a mile up and down. Turn right into the wash and then go to N33 08.495 W111 08.680.

Cache is covered with baseball size rocks between two large rocks. From where I parked my quad I walked about 15 feet.

Cache is in cookie tin about 8 in. square and 3 in. high and contains about a dozen items.
