This is a fairly easy cache on rolling terrain with nice views and a good possibility of seeing wildlife.
A good starting point for this cache is about 6 or 7 miles up Sheridan Lake Road from Rapid City. Look for Forest Service road 514 on the south side of the road at N43 59.319, W103 22.243. Here there is a locked gate and a small area for parking. A sign on the gate says this is a Bighorn Sheep Management Area. We have seen bighorn sheep in this area a number of times, along with deer and elk. So pay attention when you get up into the good viewing areas.
The cache is a section of 3 inch PVC sewer pipe, with one cap glued on. Bring small stuff if you want to leave anything. The cache started off with:
bag of marbles
box of crayons
toy helicopter
glow in the dark dinosaur
yo-yo keychain
toy frog
toy bug
When you put the removable cap back on, be careful not to cram it on real hard as it will be difficult for the next person to remove.
Also, this area is closed to motor vehicles so plan on walking in. It's not a difficult hike. This is our first cache, so any suggestions or advice welcome.
