Some history about the area (from previous
owner)
This virtual cache is a very unique piece of architecture. This
structure spans the Middle Fork of the Holston River and is
supported by a beautiful stone arch. A small country road passes
under the arch. The structure is over 100 years old and still doing
the job it was designed to do, so many years ago. The limestone
blocks of the arch were hand cut locally, and pinned with iron
spikes. As you will see, the arch is very narrow. At the time it
was made, there were no cars or trucks traveling thru it, just
carts, wagons, and buggies.
Take a few minutes to walk thru the arch and examine the work
that was involved in its design. (Traffic is very low on this road,
but make sure nothing is coming before you walk thru this short,
one lane passage!)
Please bring a trash bag with you and help me keep this site
clean.
About the cache and logging requirements
To get credit for the find, simply email me the year that is carved
in the keystone of the arch OR send me a pic of you with
the arch. Either one, or both, will be fine.
