This cache has seen many different versions over the years as it is one of the oldest cache listings in Newfoundland. It has just been adopted (2022), and rather than archive this old listing and have it disappear from the caching map, I have accepted the adoption request and decided to take on a stewardship role for its original hider, 48degrees.
When my daughters were young and got me in to geocaching, this is one of the first finds that we made. 48degrees hid this one along with a couple others for her children, after her geocaching friend aviex hid the original Billy Goats Gruff, Chapter One for her children to find. In an odd stroke of fate, I had become the steward of that aviex cache a few years ago. So the caching story here comes full circle, staying alive for three caching families - and now possibly yours, too.
The cache here which we found years ago was the classic Newfoundland geocache hide container - a beef bucket. With the advent of the new trail here 48degrees moved the hide to here, yet unfortunately got muggled.
As the new steward of this old listing, I figured this cache is deserving of a hiding place to reflect its name - Billy Goats Gruff. We have updated the coordinates accordingly. You'll now need to channel your inner billy goat just a little bit and go off trail and up the hill - pick your spot and your feet will stay dry and bushwhacking will be minimal. While there are signs of muggle presence early on as you leave the trail (I found a pair of pristine sunglasses (!)) yet soon your inner billy goat will only see signs of muggles in the terrain below you.
Good luck on the search, and thanks to 48degrees for making the original hide and allowing me to adopt this classic cache listing to keep it alive on the map.
