Geocache Description:

Interesting views of mountains, canyons and the Rio Grande Valley north of Socorro, altitude 5575 feet. The last 4 to 5 miles of driving is on dirt. It is a 2 to 3 mile hike to get to the area where the cache is hidden.

From I-25 take the San Acacia exit. Proceed to the East side of I-25 and take the side road South to the Turn waypoint. Go West on the road that goes under I-25. After going under I-25 at the the bend in the road go straight onto the dirt road. Go to the First Parking waypoint, about 4 miles. If you park here you can enjoy walking through the notch, but it will be 3 miles to the cache area. Or drive to the Second Parking waypoint, another mile where there is a gate. The road is rough near the gate. The road can be driven most of the way in a regular car with care. Do not go after wet weather as the road is sandy. Walk up Canocito de las Cabras to the Canyon Exit waypoint, where a 2 track will take you out of the canyon on the right side. Then go find the cache. Enjoy the views. After finding the cache you can proceed to the Viewpoint waypoint for a view into San Lorenzo Canyon and a lunch break if you wish. The area north of San Lorenzo Canyon is Sevietta Wildlife Refuge, a restricted area.
