The Galena Trail is a linear regional park along the bed of an old rail grade. This section connects New Denver with Three Forks near the Highway 31A turnoff to Sandon with a unique self-powered cable car spanning Carpenter Creek halfway along. The cache is near the site of the old hydro generator that once served New Denver. A spectacular view looks down on the point where the waters of Carpenter Creek pour through a narrow chute.
The trailhead is best reached from near the highway maintenance yard on Denver Siding Road, a kilometer or so up the highway from New Denver towards Kaslo. An easy, mostly level half hour hike takes you to the vicinity of the cache. The trail is suitable for mountain bikes, small children, etc..
The trail follows the railbed of the old K&S narrow-gauge railway that served to supply Sandon during the heydey of the silver rush in this area.
The cache is in a medium-sized tupperware container.
