Warden Walkabout
Watch out, watch out, there’s a Warden
about!
Where ever you go on this cache you are sure to see the
Warden. Don’t worry though, it’s only the hill that
sets the location for this two part cache. Warden Hill rises to a
height of 195m (or 640 ft for the oldies) and offers impressive
panoramic views over Luton and North Bedfordshire. Your hunt for
the cache will take you on a circular walk around pleasant
countryside, up and down the hill. In total the distance is just
over a mile (depending on your route) but can easily be expanded if
you want to explore the area and fancy a longer walk. Suggested
parking is at N51° 55.039 W0° 25.426 although there is
plenty of parking available elsewhere. You should have no trouble
at all with the GPS signal during this cache hunt. At the initial
location my GPS was showing that I had 11 satellite's
locked!
This cache was hidden at the request of Nobby Junior (age 6)
who keeps complaining that when we find the treasure (he’s
not keen on the term Geocache) there are always boring things for
grown-ups inside. So he though it would be a good idea to have a
treasure that only has children’s things in it – and
this is it. The entire contents of this cache is intended for
children so please ensure that if you leave something, it is
suitable for children (no sweets, drinks, or food). McBurger toys
are particularly welcome (words you don't often hear!). I know many
people take their children along when geocaching, so I hope that
they will find this one particularly enjoyable. The grown-ups will
just have to settle for the views and the fact that they have added
another find to their tally.
The co-ordinates given above will lead you initially to
an out standing point where you will be able to find a 4
digit number (ABCD). The numbers are shown on a plaque and have the
letter ‘S’ in front of them. Use these numbers to work
out where the cache is hidden as follows:
The cache is hidden at
N51° 55 . (D) (A+B) (A-D) W0° 24 .
(A+C-D) (A-C) (D+D)
The cache is hidden very close to a
footpath and if not properly concealed will be visible to the many
walkers that use the path. Please make sure that the cache is
well hidden when you have finished with it.
Once you have found the cache, all you then need to do is find
the easy path back to the car!
If you should find something in the log book, please leave it as
you found it ;-)
