Geocache Description:

A short drive down a bumpy road. A short hike up a bumpy hill. Or mountian bike to within .15 mile of the site. Even better!

Las Tres Chupacabras have placed another cache. Just past the entrance to Madera Canyon, turn right onto the Elephant Head hiking/biking trail. If the visitor booth is manned, just let them know that you are headed down the trail and not into the canyon proper, which is a parking fee area. Just about any car in good shape should be fine on the short trip to the parking spot -- but it's close enough to walk easily, too. The road is bumpy, but wide enough for cars to pass eachother.

About .32 miles down the road look for a campsite on the left with the remains of a concrete foundation. From there, you're on your own. The cahce is another .15 mile hike from that site. Expect a bit of fairly easy elevation gain...with one or two steep spots.

Plan to criss-cross, switchback, bump your head on the occaisional tree branch and get scraped by throny little plants. Faint trails are abundant -- apparently more often the route of cattle than people. The cache is in a big green ammo box. Thanks to the Skeleton Crew for the box.
