Geocache Description:

An interesting side trip that Bruce Trail hikers might not know about.

We started hiking the Bruce Trail at its Niagara start point on April 18 2003. We were fortunate enough to stay at a Bed and Breakfast in St. Catharines where the owner knew the trail and told us to watch for a portion of the trail behind a subdivision where there are carvings. Rumour has it that a retired local dentist spends his time in the woods working on the dead trees. At any given time there can be up to 20 carvings in the area depending on whether people are "borrowing" the carvings.

There are no caches on the 17 km stretch of the trail that we hiked during that day so we thought it would be appropriate to highlight an area that might not get noticed.

To get to this particular carving you have to wander off the Bruce trail onto an unmarked but well-worn side trail It's probably a couple hundred metres off of the Bruce Trail. You'll pass two to three other carvings before you get to this one.

To log the find, tell me what initials are carved at the bottom of the carving and what other carving is at the top of this carving. We stepped off the trail about 10 metres to get to it and at this time of year no bushwhacking was required.

We're posting a spoiler picture so you know which carving to look for.

Other carvings to look for include a Buddha, the Virgin Mary, a Canadian Tire Money guy, as well as others that I'm told we missed because we didn't know what to look for.

Thanks to Bullzie who provided us with the following parking coordinates which are about 500 m away from the cache: N43'07.666 W79'13.708
