This cache site is at a microwave communication tower location on a mountain just north of Cranbrook. Wonderful 360 degree views are available from the top.
There are several ways by which to get to the top of this mountain. I chose to drive in from Six Mile Lane and up the 2.4 km trail at the end of the lane. I would not recommend anything less than a high clearance vehicle for this trail as it gets somewhat rough towards the top. It is possible to walk this trail with little problem although it is uphill for the whole 2.4 km.
It is also possible to hike in from the Cranbrook Speedway Oval or from the Wilks and Kahn Subdivision on the Old Kimberley Highway. The views from the top make this a well worthwhile trip.
The cache is in a flat Tupperware container and the original contents were:- A Gold Heart Pin, A Timex Watch (working!), Some RCMP Collectible Cards, A Collectible 1956 British Sixpence, A Propane Tank Gauge, A Scottie Key Ring, 2 Other Key Rings, A Copper Pendant, Pencils and Pad. It also holds the Canadian Geocoin #1068. Please register its move at www.geocoins.ca.
