This cache was originally placed by
Rob, Becky & Jay on 20/04/2003, but was destroyed by
fire.
Rob has kindly agreed for me to adopt
the cache, so let's hope it doesn't go up in flames again
:-)
There
are two options to get to the cache...
THE LONGER
OPTION
Starting at Woodhouse Mill, ideally, park at N53 22.007 W1 20.867,
in a layby just off the B6200, which is the start of the Trail.
It's a pleasant walk/cycle along this part of Trail and the route
is well walked and partially gravelled so makes easy cycling for
all, including the kids. The initial part of the walk goes through
the Woodhouse Washlands Nature Reserve
(see
http://www.rotherhamunofficial.co.uk/parks/naturereserves/woodhouse.htm
for more info), where you can see highland cattle up close &
personal!
THE SHORTER OPTION
(aka The StrongGale way!)
Park at N53 21.272 W1 19.699.
The Cache is hidden about 10
minutes walk from Rother Valley Country Park itself and makes an
ideal destination after raiding the cache. There's a pub, gift
shops, etc and a large lake with lots of ducks & swans, so
don't forget to take some bread! If you're feeling adventurous, you
could always hire a jet ski or boat and go out onto the
lake.
WARNING!
As the name suggests, things might get a bit "prickly"
when retrieving the cache, so a thick pair of gardening gloves
and a (walking) stick are a
pre-requisite!
The cache is a small 1 litre
tupperware style box.
Please ensure that
the corners and sides are clipped on when putting the lid back on
the box, otherwise it gets very soggy
inside.
Don't forget!
While out geocaching, take a bag with you to pick up trash
along the way.
Visit the Cache In Trash Out page to learn more about
CITO.
Enjoy!
