Geocache Description:

Flat, Paved, Easy access from good parking.

Hello ya'll, as of today (March 9, 2007) this cache has been adopted by me, DaKender.  This bridge brings back special memories for me, as it's the one we drove across every day to get to school, or when ever we went into town.  Some other quick history of this area, My Uncle still lives there in Galena, if you walk towards town and look to your left you can probably see his house.  My Grandfather ran the lumber yard for many years (Many Years Ago. We lived there when the gas station just off the square caught fire, if that tells you anything, and dad was the one who drove the burning tanker out of town.).  My father was a Deputy Sheriff of Galena, and drove the ambulance for awhile.  Okies, Here is some info I left on the page form the previous owner.  Very nice history and didn't need or want to change any of it.

This magnificent structure was completely formed & poured on this site using sand & gravel from the river below as well as materials from the surrounding area. The work began in 1926 & was completed in Nov. 19_ _. The "Y" configuration was adopted to accommodate the curve on old Hwy 43, now Hwy. 13. Making it safer to enter & exit. The bridge was listed in the National register of historic places in May, 1991. Glad it was not torn down.

Galena is the seat of justice for Stone County. Stone county was named after Judge W.T. Stone & I thought it was called Stone County for all the ROCKS. The explorer H.R. Schoolcraft reported seeing lumps of Galena on his 1818-1819 trip to the area. Galena ( Lead Sulfide ) is a mineral that can contain up to 1% silver in place of lead. Notable occurrences of Galena are Tx., Okla., Mo. in the USA & Germany, Peru, Mexico, Zambia & England.

On With The Show - In the history lesson above, you should see a section in red.  The last two digits of the year are the numbers you will need to finish the coordinates to the final cache/log.  Go to the coordinates listed at the top of the page for this cache and it should bring you to an area where this information can be obtained, (NOTE: AS OF 10/28/2016, the sign with the information is missing. The answer you seek is 27.) along with allot of other information about the area and the bridge.  Plug them coordinates into the missing area and head to it.  NOTE: Both areas are "UP TOP", so you won't need to do any bushwhacking or swimming to get this one.  It looks like way back when this cache was first placed it might have been below the bridge, hard to tell, but those who found it years ago would know.

Other tidbits of information - The container you are looking for is a black plastic "Hide A Key" type box and is still considered a micro.  As it looks like this cache might have been muggled a few times in the past, please put it back exactly as you found it.  I have put a new log in it and it is inside a zip lock bag.  And a SPECIAL THANKS goes out to " Geo Ferret " for allowing me to adopt this cache.
