Handicap accessible trail located in Nevada County, California.
This trail, named the Independence Trail, was once the 26 mile long Excelsior Ditch, used to carry water to the gold miners along the South Yuba River. Portions of it have been renovated by volunteers(bless them)to make it wheelchair accessible. Access to a waterfall and great views make this an enjoyable hike. This spot is likely to have people around on the weekends, probably better to visit during the week.
Parking is at the trail head. 39 17.512N 121 05.831W
Round plastic container, white lid, 12" diameter in a black plastic bag contains the usual gizmos. It is not in the water.
NOTE that as you descend the satellites become less visible and your GPS may get a little jittery. I had to wait a looong time for the GPS to settle.
