Might As Well Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

-Rusty-: Greetings,

While Geocaching.com would like to continue to hold the location for you, doing so blocks other cachers from placing caches in the area. We feel that this cache has been disabled for a period of time exceeding what is reasonable for the area, and thus I regretfully must archive it.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Thank you,

Rusty...

Geocache Description:

"One long party from front to end
Tune to the whistle going round the bend
No big hurry, what do you say
Might as well travel the elegant way"

The theme and clues for this multi-cache were derived from tunes played by The Grateful Dead. The area you will be exploring, and the hides you will be seeking, are as varied as the band's repertoire. If you heed the lyrics above, we think you'll have an enjoyable and challenging adventure.
"If you get confused, listen to the music play!" (lyric from Franklin's Tower - not a clue).

One Long Party From Front To End
The site for this multi-cache is in the Pere Marquette State Forest, roughly 10 miles outside of Traverse City, MI. Depending on your skills, and knowledge of the area, you'll probably want to allow at least a couple hours to find the site and locate the caches. We recommend you make this cache hunt a "sunshine daydream" rather than a "nightfall of diamonds" (not clues, just apropos lyrics).

The initial caches are all micros (film canisters). The final cache is a regular-sized military surplus container, but it's not an ammo can. All caches are well camouflaged and in interesting hiding places.

Tune To The Whistle Going Round The Bend
To truly appreciate this multi-cache, we recommend you listen to the tunes utilized for the clues, while you search for their particular caches. Access to the caches is via a two-track dirt road off Rennie Lake Rd., as you're "going round the bend". You won't need a "Willys in four wheel drive" (lyric from Sugar Magnolia - not a clue) to access the site.

No Big Hurry, What Do You Say
This is a pretty area, diverse in its terrain and woodland. We recommend you park just off the two-track near the initial cache. Please be kind and minimize impact to the area.

Might As Well Travel The Elegant Way
You can get near the caches by car, if your health requires you to do so (weather and vehicle permitting). If you "travel the elegant way" and hike or walk to each cache, you'll cover 2+ miles. To avoid bushwhacking, look for deer trails and breaks in the forest, although some bushwhacking may be necessary in a couple of places. You may wish to get back behind the wheel for the final stage of this multi-cache.
