Geocache Description:

Get ready to shake, rattle and roll!

In Centerville and Farmington there are many Lanes: Page's Lane, Porter Lane, Parrish Lane, Chase Lane, Jennings Lane, Lund Lane, Clark Lane, and Glover's Lane, just to name a few. Add another less-traveled lane to the list: Crater Lane (formerly known as "Pothole Lane"--a while back someone suggested this name change, and I liked it). Crater Lane is the dike road between Centerville and Farmington west of Legacy Highway and I-15. Before contruction began on Legacy Highway, this dirt road was strewn with potholes large enough to swallow a Volkswagen! The Legacy crews smoothed the surface as this was used as an access road during highway construction. The craters may be filled in, but the name remains!

Back in the flood years of '83 and '84, the waters of the GSL lapped the very edge of this gravel avenue.

Between Parrish and Glover's Lanes is hidden a geocache. Enjoy the ride but glue those dentures down extra tight, and check your shock absorbers and tire pressure before heading out. Nice views east and west. Bring bug spray in warm weather. Be sure to replace the cache carefully as it is fairly well-hidden. PLEASE NOTE: The route to the cache via Parrish Lane has changed! The road west on Parrish is blocked by a guard rail right at the Parrish Lane exit on Legacy Highway. To access the cache via Parrish Lane, head west on Parrish over the freeway viaduct and turn right (north) on 1250 West. Follow 1250 West through the industrial park and over the bridge which spans Legacy Highway. After the bridge, the road turns west until it intersects Crater Lane (the dirt road). Turn right (north) onto Crater Lane and follow your GPS. You may also access this cache from the NORTH via Glover's Lane in Farmington or from the SOUTH via Porter Lane (2200 North) in West Bountiful.
