Nice preserve, usually not too crowded the deeper you go. Less than 1/2 mile from parking lot, if you go the right way.
Update 7/12/03. Some of the previous logs note that this area gets wet and muddy. Oh well, they all can't be easy walk ups. We feel that the terrain adds to the challange of caching. Read the logs and be aware before you go out.
It seems that lately that everyone is feeling much more patriotic these days. We decided to place a cache with this theme in mind.
The forest preserves around here are our “home base”. We’ve biked and hiked and explored them for years and know them well. We will be placing more caches in them shortly, as there are a lot of good spots we know of. The entrance to this forest preserve is on Dundee Road, east of Milwaukee Avenue and the DesPlaines River. There is plenty of parking and a few trails to chose from and lots of wildlife. If you don’t come across deer here, you are either not looking or are as noisy as the 4th of July at night.
Although this cache may not be that difficult to find, getting to it could be challenging, depending on which route you choose. Some bushwhacking may be required as it is not on a trail.
