A short, easy find, just a hop, skip and a jump off I-84.
Provides a breath-taking view of the Pendleton valley and surrounding farmlands, and a little caching fun besides.
Before I-84 was built in the late-1950s in Eastern Oregon, folks traveled the Old Cabbage Hill Rd from Pendleton to LaGrande. Going up that hill with most any car of that day was sure to take its toll on your radiator, and chances are, you'd need an infusion of water by the time you reached the top, hence the name, Boiling Point. You could also fill your gas tank, drain your own and rest a bit on a warm summer day.
If you follow this winding road to the bottom, it will take you to the pleasant little city of Pendleton, home of the world-famous Pendleton Round-Up, Underground Tours, and the Pendleton Woolen Mill.
Take Exit 224 off I-84, either direction. There's an easy place to park not far from the cache, so no need to park in the road. The cache is a camo-painted ammo can, well-hidden. No additional hints needed.
Enjoy your ride, and "Let'er Buck!"
