The Yarra Turning Basin Redevelopment was initiated in 1986 to overcome the negative impacts of historical road and rail infrastructure at the Turning Basin. It was an opportunity to reconnect the Central Business District to the Yarra River at the location of the City’s first port and to complete the continuous series of public recreational spaces along the north bank of the River. Construction was completed in 1997 at a cost of $8.5 million.' The old port is now remembered by the five ship’s figureheads standing guard over the wharf and the river not far from the cache. You can enjoy this picturesque and historic area despite the 21st century noise and bustle of cars, trams, trains and helicopters. There are several other tourist attractions nearby.
Please be very discreet when accessing the cache, as there are people and cars passing close by all the time. However, if you are alert, you shouldn’t have too much trouble. To avoid cache creep, when you find it please take careful note of the cache's position in relation to its immediate surroundings, and return it to the same spot when you have finished. There is a guide to the correct location inside the container lid. Also, please keep your swaps very small so as not to damage the container, and make sure the cache container is closed securely before you replace it. Please don't give any clues to the hide in your log.
