Located in Lorimer Park, a 230 acre natural area in Abington Township.
Park in the Lorimer Park lot on Moredon Road, between Pine Road and Huntingdon Pike (Rt. 232). Cache is located in the north side of the park, across the street from the parking area.
Please note the following park rules:
- park hours are 8:00am till sunset (see signs for specific closing time; strictly enforced.)
- mountain biking is permitted on park trails, although not recommended for this search
The terrain is steep rolling hills through forests, criss-crossed by streams and well maintained trails.
Be advised that Lyme Disease carrying Deer Ticks inhabit the area. If you venture through the undergrowth you are urged to use bug repellent, check yourself for ticks and bathe as soon as possible.
Cache is an ammo box. It contains a log book, some park brochures and a few trinkets to get things going.
NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF!:
You may have already found the other two caches in Lorimer Park, they were relatively easy. This one is meant to provide a true challenge. The terrain is steeper and the forest canopy may effect your satellite reception.
Some initial hints:
- First, as the song says, "Over the river and through the woods..."
- Second, to save your body from possible pain and to avoid getting in trouble, you should go around a prominent natural feature.
- Third, when you are within 200 feet, watch your "distance to cache" or "map," not your compass arrow.
The log book may look full, but please start using the back pages. Thanks!
