Grin N Bear Traditional Cache
bthomas: This is a 22 year inside joke for a UCB student during winter break. It was also an astronomical puzzle featuring the shadow of the Campanile on the Winter Solstice. Finders now know, of course, that the cache was under one of the two bears by the Engineering Hall.

On the shortest day of the year, at 10:30 a.m. PST, something will point the way here. It ís less than a 10 minute walk from a parking meter. See? Enough? Okay, okay, okay... Like I know how to make a 4-star. The small hand originates 800 feet away, and comes up about 100 feet short on the shortest day. On the longest day of the year, at 11:45 a.m. PST (12:45 PDT), the small hand points in the same direction, but it ís only about 90 feet long. You can use the Naval Observatory’s Sun Alt-Azimuth table, Form A. The place name is Berkeley, California.
