Woodland Cache hunt in Pymatuning State Park, close to the Ohio border. Park at N41 31.394 W80 29.641 and the best trail entrance on Adams Road is at N41 31.124 W 80 29.677 .
One could say that the name of this cache is inspired by the fact that when deer are spotted in these woodlands, they are most noticably showing their rear ends as they bound away. And there are indeed plenty of deer to see. Strangely, they are not as afraid of cars as people walking. I recommend deer watching here in the late evening, but not too late, because the parking area will close after sunset. The deer will be seen anywhere in the area and there are chances here for some great sightings.
After parking, follow Adams Road to the trail entrance, but on the way, stop to pay homage to the stately ancient tree located to your left at N41 31.199 W80 29.673. It is quite a sight.
The trail will be apparent to the left as well, and enjoy the hike along it through the deciduous and evergreen growth. Some areas of the trail will be muddy in the summer. You'll have to hike off-trail for some distance depending on your choice. There are some deer trails which may help if you are lucky to find them. Some areas may be quite overgrown in the summer and I don't know what the levels of poison ivy are like.
Among a variety of items in the Cache are an authentic Sumo Wrestling banner from Japan, a gold Sacajewia dollar, and a utility knife (there is more, don't worry).
This is my first cache, so please leave plenty of comments so I can maintain it properly. Happy Hunting! Can't wait to see who gets there first.
