Brown Ammo Box located between twin waterfalls at the end of an easy 2.1 mile trail with minor elevation changes.
Cache is located in Pisgah Forest. From the ranger station go 0.6 miles and turn right on FS477 road to riding stables. This road is hardpack gravel. Go 2.5 miles to parking area located at N35.18.966, W82.45.134 (WGS84). From the parking area, follow the ORANGE blaze to the Buckhorn Gap Trail 0.8 miles down the trail. (The "3" Terrain Rating is based on the total distance of the hike, not the ruggedness of the trail.)
You will lose the GPS signal periodically, but the trail is clear and this cache can be done with the information given here.
You might want to take a short side trip at a small waterfall off the trail to the right at N35.19.190, W82.45.160. I would nominate this fall pool to 'Wanderlust' and 'Laughing Moon' for a "Polar Bear Spot".
At 1.4 miles turn left onto the BLUE blaze trail marked for the Twin Falls. The trail splits near N35.19.902, W82.45.501.
Continue on to the twin falls. Just before the falls there is a small waterfall off to the left that is not one of the twins. At the point where you can see both falls, follow the trail to the left waterfall and cross over the creek at the base. The cache is located between the two falls. (Heavy cover. Don't forget the hint!)
