Geocache Description:

This cache is in one of London's newest parkland areas and the cache site overlooks an engineering marvel that was opened in 1984.

Thames Barrier Park is the first major public parkland in London in over 50 years. From the north bank of the Thames, it overlooks the Thames Flood Barrier which was built to protect London from the North Sea's tidal surges.

The park itself has a cafe, formal gardens, hedged walks, pavement fountains (Goretex advisable!) and a Pavilion Of Remembrance and is a great place for singletons, couples and families alike.

This regular cache is hidden in a fairly open area frequented by locals, visitors and park keepers alike, so discretion is required to retrieve and replace.

The Park is serviced by bus (69 & 474), Underground (Canning Town on the Jubilee Line), Docklands Light Railway (Canning Town on the Beckton Branch) and North London Line Silverlinks overground services. Free, limited parking is also available.
