'Round the Island Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Windrose: I went over to the island today to find a new spot for the cache, and as I was walking around checking out different places, I decided that it's time to archive this one and open the island for some new caches.

This multi has been fun and a lot of cachers have had fun finding it, but a bunch of new caches on this island would be fun too. There's plenty of room for 5 or 6 caches here.
So have at it.

((Things are pretty busy for me right now IRL (in real life) but if no one takes me up on the offer I'll drop a few here myself next spring.))

Geocache Description:

When I was a kid this was our "Adventure Land". We spent countless hours running wild on this "island". Exploring the "wilderness" on the north side, fishing, catching frogs and turtles, racing our bikes, and climbing trees. The island's a little over .5 mile in length, about half of that is car accessible. (Seemed a lot bigger when I was a kid.)

A pair of Bald Eagles have a nest in a tree on the other side of Lake Linton, across from the middle of the island (more or less). See if you can spot it (and the eagles) while you're there.

Coordindates are to step 1. Watch the one-way signs of the drive.

Container is kind of small (1 qt) and camouflaged. Please make sure container is securely in it's spot & covered. Completely hidden from view. This is a popular park & even a little corner of the container showing will cause it to disappear.

Step 1 -- "Enter here" N43° 24.905 -- W83° 57.613 This was the original entrance to the island. Good frog and turtle hunting below this bridge. Record the year the bridge was originally built and the year it was restored.

Step 2 -- "Pray For Us" N43° 24.933 -- W83° 57.605. Here's a little known monument. Although the surname is well known in this area, few know what he did. Good climbing trees and hiding spots here. Record the month, day, and year Henri did his thing, and, also the date the monument was erected.

step 3 -- "Lake Linton" N43° 24.913 -- W83° 57.393. This was our fishing spot when we were kids. Record the number you find written on the tree.

step 4 -- "Where's the playground?" N43° 25.020 -- W83° 57.310. When I was a kid, there was a playground right across the drive (north) from here. Record the address on the building.

step 5 -- "Independence Day" N43° 25.207 -- W83° 57.076. In the "olden days" of my childhood, this bridge wasn't here. This end of the island was undeveloped, just bushes and trees. It was one of our favorite places. Now it's where they put on the fireworks display every 4th of July. Record the zipcode of the "Town and Country Bridge" company.

step 6. -- "I Hate Math" Grab a seat at a nearby picnic table and let's put your numbers together to get the coordinates of the cache.
Coordinates are : N43° A.B -- W83° C.D

1. The number you found written on the tree in step 3 is A.
2. Take the address from step 4 and add the last two digits of the year the monument was erected in step 2. This is B.
3. From step 1, take the last two digits of the later year and subtract the last two digits of the earlier year. Now subtract 2. This is C.
4. Take the first two digits of the zipcode in step 5 and add the first two digits of the year Henri did his thing (step 2). Now add the month, and add the day, from the same date. This is D. (don't forget the leading zero)
