Geocache Description:

Get away from the resorts and people and enjoy this secluded beach. Bring your Fly Rod, mask and snorkel, and picnic. The cache is within 380 meters of the road, but you may want to spend the day here in the park and on the beach.

On our recent trip the the Bahamas, we were amazed to see that there were only two caches on all of Grand Bahama Island. So we sought out to fix that and show you a beautiful, pristine part of the island, away from the tourists.

The cache and beach are located in the Lucayan National Park on Grand Bahama island. There may or may not be a $2.00 entrance fee (it’s the Bahamas, you know). There are buses from the resort area and the bus ticket includes the park admission. You can rent scooters in Freeport, or take a $40.00 taxi ride each way. Getting a taxi back may be a problem.

There are kayak rentals and tours available to paddle your way through the river filled with mangroves and wildlife. There are two boardwalks to the beach that actually form a loop trail back to the road.

The secluded beach and flats go out in both directions for miles. Be sure to bring your fly rod or fishing pole, this is some of the best Bonefishing in the world! If you are really lucky, you might reel in some snapper, permit, jack, or barracuda. Bring a picnic lunch, there are picnic tables and grills just off the beach in the shade of the trees. And, remember to bring your mask and snorkel. The reef begins almost as soon as you step in the water.

To claim credit for this cache, please e-mail me with the answers to these two questions:

What is the name of the rock in the picture?

What is the name of the East Boardwalk (the trail to the left from the road)?
- The name is located at N26 36.244 / W78 24.012

We hope you enjoy your day at the Beach.

Happy Caching,
SceneryGuy and MattCat&T
