Scenic hike in the vicinity of the Oak Ridge Moraine Trail.
This is a traditional geocache located in the Hollidge Tract in the York Region Forest. Parking is at N44.03.966, W079.18.106, on Hwy 48, just south of the Vivian Sideroad, at the York Region Forest Headquarters. It is a fairly easy hike which may or may not include a portion of the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail. Be aware, the last stretch requires some bushwacking, but it is not very difficult, so bring the whole family.
The hike is approximately 3.0 km round trip, however, give yourself some extra time, as you will surely want to stop and look at the wildflowers. We saw trilliums, troutlilies, bloodroot, dutchmans breeches, and many other flowers. The forest contains Jack, Red, Scots pine as well as Larch and Spruce trees.
The cache is well hidden in a large tupperware container. The original contents included Doctor Doppler, many small plastic animals, dinosaurs and bugs, a retro CD (1992 new music), Goof-ball 2 Travel bug, a vintage hotwheel corvette, memory card game, and several finger poppers.
If you can, please post your photo taken with Smokie.
