GHMCMC Stage 13: Throe Caution to the Wind !! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Couparangus: I'd better pull the plug on this one. Its long outlasted its original purpose. My apologies for the DNF logs. This is a nice area and certainly worthy of another cache. In fact in my opinion there is a better cache location nearby that I don't mind sharing if someone wants to place one. Cheers! Coupar Angus

Geocache Description:

Another cache in the Coupar-Angus style - if you like easy finds, you won't like this one!

The Golden Horseshoe region of Ontario is the area around the western end of Lake Ontario, and includes such urban centers as Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls. For this cache series, we've extended the region to Newmarket in the northeast, Waterloo in the northwest, Port Dover in the southwest, and Fort Erie in the southeast. More than half of the population of Ontario lives in or around these cities.

The Golden Horseshoe Multi-Cacher Multi-Cache is a cooperative effort of fourteen local Geocachers. Each of the individual Stage caches may be treated as a normal, single cache. You can complete the 14 Stages in any order. Each Stage will include a *SECRET*, written on the underside of the cache container lid. Don't forget to write it down if you plan to tackle the Final Stage!

Come enjoy this wonderful area - but watch out for the mountain bikers in summer! Very swampy in places so there are plenty of bugs in summer - some Deet based repellant may be a good idea if you're concerned with West Nile disease. There's a hint built-in to the name of the cache, and anyone who has ever looked for one of my caches may have almost come to expect this now!!

Parking may be found nearby, if you like you can pay for it via the main entrance off highway 50, or you can perhaps try N43 55.108 W79 48.906 or the ever popular N43 55.234 W79 50.525 which in reality will get you closer to the cache location. For this starting point there has been some confusion as to which trail to take so I will just mention that it might be marked with five letters with one vowel. I used a smaller than normal container for this one as the hiding spot really didn't allow for a lot of room.
I think this will be a fun cache hunt and look forward to finding all the other caches in this series myself soon. Olar is right in that there is a mountin bike trail that passess nearby the cache site twice. Good luck!!! Or as I often say, "Good luck is for those who don't prepare - what I need is a miracle!!"

Cheers!
Coupar-Angus
