UPDATE: July 5, 2023 - a recent geocacher (NAME WITHHELD) commented that my GPS coordinates for this site, (from twenty years ago) were not accurate. I have not been active on Geocaching in ages, but just received an email that this member was disappointed with the GPS coordinates I posted twenty years ago. Back then, when I visited the Floating Garden, it was May 2003 - before handheld GPS devices were common, and more than a decade before Google Maps and other mapping systems. I sat in my hotel room with a view of the “Floating Garden” after spending days confined to a convention center. After visiting this magical garden (despite my fear of heights) I spent HOURS trying to pinpoint the GPS directions using VERY outdated systems. Obviously, according to a recent cache finder, I did a poor job of pinpointing the exact GPS coordinates.
These days, GPS coordinates are very accurate. Back then, GPS coordinates were very rough. I do not believe the US government released sub-meter GPS coordinates to the general public by this point.
I assume anyone who visits the general GPS coordinates can look up to the sky and see this fantastic building with a floating garden.
And I could be happy to UPDATE the GPS coordinates if fellow geocachers who logged this site,(name withheld) would simply provide me with the “20 years” more modern GPS coordinates rather than complain I would UPDATE this. I did the best I could at the time back in 2003. I am happy to update with more accurate data from other catchers as I am not able to travel to Japan to update the coordinates.
Please forgive my lack of “modern day technology” from this geocache I created twenty years ago. Times were different then.
Can you tell I am a little offended by this recent comment???!!!!

November 2014 Update: It has been over ten years since I created the Floating Garden cache while on a short business trip to Japan and I never realized the legacy it would leave behind. Back then, it was rare to have a handheld GPS let alone a smart phone that gave you the same information. I fondly remember how I established the way-points "guessing" at the GPS coordinates while staying a a nearby hotel using trial & error to get the pin in the closest proximity I could. I am thrilled so many geocachers have enjoyed the experience over the years!
