A traditional cache relatively close to the Ferryland Head lighthouse
The cache is in a 2L ice cream container. It holds the standard stuff:
geocache sheet, notepad, pencil, sharpener - all in a ziploc bag.
In addition, there are a few trinkets in the cache, including a deck of cards, a Lego man, a Pikachu, a Lilo doll, a fire truck, 2AA batteries, a 50 cent South African coin, a 50 cent Canadian coin.
It is a great view from the cache location, or anywhere on the point of land. We hid this cache on a beautiful, sunny but very cool day on the long weekend in May and did not know there was another cache close by. We have since moved this one further from the lighthouse. We had excellent sattelite signals so should have had a good fix. The locals told us that this is a great spot to sit and watch whales in July/August.
The cache is hiden in an area with quite a few possible hiding spots so you may need to hunt for a while. Please be careful to replace it in the same location so the coordinates will be accurate.
We spent the afternoon at the Ferryland archeological site - well worth the time and cost for a full visit. A permanent village was set up in this location in the 1600's and so far, they have uncoverd over 1,000,000 artifacts.
