Geocache Description:

A multi cache requiring clue finding at Sandal Castle and then a visit to Pugney's Country Park which is right next door to find the cache! You can choose to do a march down from the top of the hill and march back up again like the Grand old Duke of York (see OS map for path down) or drive round to Pugney's Country Park car park @ N53 39.455 W001, 30.583 (parking fees now apply!) which is open from 9.00am until dusk and offers level walks to the cache site

~~~~~~~
Sandal castle was the former seat of the Duke of York who met his death nearby in the Battle of Wakefield in 1460 during the War of the Roses. His exploits gave rise to the famous nursery rhyme The Grand Old Duke of York:
Oh, the grand old Duke of York,
He had ten thousand men;
He marched them up to the top of the hill,
And he marched them down again.
~~~~~~~~

And when they were up, they were up,

And when they were down, they were down,

And when they were only half way up,

They were neither up nor down.

A waypoint below gives the coordinates of a monument to his death a short distance from the castle and is well worth a visit whilst you are in the area

~~~~~~~
The cache is at location N53' 39.ABC W001' 29.DEF
In order to derive the ABC & DEF coordinates you will have to visit each of the waypoints given below at Sandal Castle and answer the associated questions. Once you have gleaned the answers from the below way-points the cache can be found at:
A = First + Last digit of the the year from Stage 1 answer
B = 3rd digit minus 4th digit of the year from Stage 2 answer
C = Answer to Stage 3, question a)
D = 3rd digit  multiplied by 2 of the year from Stage 3, question b)
E = Answer to Stage 3, question c) multiplied by 2
F = Answer to Stage 4 question, minus 4 and then divided by 6
You can check your answers for this puzzle on GeoChecker.com.
Good look finding the final cache, which is just over a 0.5 mile walk from either Pugneys car park or Sandal Castle. If you park at Pugney's CP after visiting the cache you can continue the circuit of the lake to arrive back at the car park giving a total circuit and nice walk/cycle of 1.6 miles
