Ehrler’s Dairy was a local dairy that was the primary milk provider for the Louisville area. The dairy was located in Camp Taylor on Poplar Level Road. The company trademark was a cow standing in front of a windmill. The dairy also had several ice cream parlors located around Louisville.
Dean’s Food’s took over as the primary milk provider for Louisville in the mid 80’s. The dairy on Poplar Level was torn down and replace by a Dairy Queen and all of the ice cream parlors closed down in the late 90’s. There is still a small Ehrler’s ice cream store located on Maclean Avenue that caters to parties and events.
On a personal note: I remember having a metal insulated box on our front porch in Okolona and Ehrler’s delivering milk in glass gallon jugs to or house twice a week.
The cache is a small milk chug container located in a little used part of George Rogers Clark Park. There is just enough room for small items.
