*gln: ARCHIVING ABANDONED CACHE

Greetings thunder_monk,

Looks like our timing is off and It’s time to say goodbye to this cache.

Since I haven't any maintenance here in a very long time, I am going to assume that your priorities have changed and you’ve gone in a different direction.

Archiving due to lack of maintenance is permanent.
CACHE ARCHIVAL IS PERMANENT.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Thanks a MILLION for all you have done, Glenn

Geocache Description:

Get Your Kicks On Route 66
Enjoy your drive down the Mother Road.

The intent of this series is to point out historic or unique places along old route 66 between IL and CA. It is NOT meant to be a power trail as caches may be 50 miles or more apart. Stop and enjoy these sights along the way.

This highway cut was featured on many many postcards and was always billed as the World's Deepest Roadcut. It really was at the time it was made.
*****PLEASE NOTE********* As the coordinates and the theme of the cache have changed any who have logged this cache before may do so again as a new find. *************************

Hooker Cut was named for the town of Hooker nearby and was billed and was in reality the Deepest Road Cut in North America. It was featured on post cards and in many books on Rte 66. It is still an impressive sight today. I have hidden a plastic peanut butter jar in camo tape and included a log sheet to log in. There is also room now for small trinkets and TBs. There is plenty of room to pull off and though there is little traffic on this "mother of roads" it is still an active highway so please be careful. The cache is hidden in a small depression in the road cut about 4 feet off the ground. I would decode the hint but not use it unless you have difficulty locating the cache....Due to the height of the rock walls on either side it was difficult getting a accuracy of more than 35'.
I hope you enjoy this and the other Rt66 caches and also enjoy your trip down the "Great Mother Road"
