Geocache Description:

Welcome to Black Diamond Mines. If you have been here, great, if not.. even better. This multi-cache will have you exploring almost all the park before reaching the end.

This is my second attempt at a Multi-cache. This, however, is more of your standard multi, being that you have to goto the first cache and retrieve the coords to the next and so on and so on, till you reach the final cache with all its goodies. I HIGHLY recommend that you park at the parking lot near the cemetary. It costs $4 and helps out our state parks and puts you in a pretty good spot to start out the caching.

There are 6, yep 6, legs to this cache..there was supposed to be only 4, but i got lost and figured that if i had to go here, so would you, so i added two more legs to the cache. The 1st, 2nd, and 5th legs are regular caches with goodies and a log sheet in it. The 3rd and 4th legs are micro caches with only a log sheet..

LOL....

I totally forgot to stock the caches with pens/pencils except for the last one, so PLEASE if you could bring extras to put in the caches, that would be much appreciated... or at the very least bring one for yourself to log your journey.

BEGIN:
The FIRST leg of the hike begins very close to the parking lot i spoke of earlier. I was having a lot of trouble locking onto satellites, even though i was completely out in the open; So I am going to describe the locale as well as i can, because to not be able to find the first part would suck!

Take the StewartVille Trail and then turn right onto the Pittsburg trail and go a little bit until you come to another Trailhead. Make sure that both the Trailhead AND the barbed wire fence are on your RIGHT as you walk forward. (might have to backtrack to the gate and go through it) Starting at the gate, go forward and count 32 metal stakes with white tops (little ones too) stop, and then look left.. there is a large dead tree on the ground, facing you on a slope.. the cache is at the base of it. There are a bunch of empty film canisters in it for the taking to become micro caches later on. The coords to the next cache are located on the bottom of all the log sheets, so write your name and go on to the next cache.

WORDS OF CAUTION:
This cache took me 6 hours and 52 minutes to do and i traversed 14.1 miles; although i did go the roundabout way for most of the caches, cause it was such a beautiful day. So you may find yourself hiking a lot less .. but either way about 95% of this journey is without shade so bring PLENTY of water, because until you get back to your car, there is NO POTABLE WATER en route. (I went through 4 liters of water today)

There are Trail Maps located at the parking lot and i highly suggest you nabbing one or two of them, in case you lose one.

To give you an idea of where this journey will take you, expect to visit the Star Mine and most of what is in between the parking lot and it.

Although this cache does not need to be done in one day, i am curious to know how long it takes someone else to do in one shot.

THE FINAL CACHE:
so why do this multi?.. because the final cache, is stock full of of Travel Bugs. There is also a keychain theme for the final cache for when the bugs are gone. Please only take one TB and let others have a shot at the cache. (and feel free to leave a bug too).

ENJOY..
