Geocache Description:

The cache is located in a small park in the Village of Avon. A short walk through woods that are remarkedly free of brush will get you there. No bushwacking necessary on this hunt.

The cache container is a tupperware type container with the usual trade items in it.

The 5 arch bridge was built between 1856 and 1857 by the Genesee Valley Railroad to span the Conesus Lake Outlet. The 200 ft. long x 12 ft. wide limestone bridge was part of the Rochester - Avon - Geneseo - Mt. Morris line. Avon became a railroad hub connecting Buffalo - Rochester - Corning - Hornell. The line was electrified in 1907 with 13 runs daily between Rochester and Mt. Morris. In 1941 the Avon - Mt. Morris section was abandoned and the rail removed.

Please keep the cache well covered.
Note: On 7/30/03 Cache Container was upgraded.

Hope you enjoyed this area as much as I did.
