Geocache Description:

As you walk along the old concession road from the parking lot (N44 34.829 * W79 42.018) you can be very sure you are traveling in the footsteps of early settlers who lived and worked in this area.

For those who know where to look, history still awaits discovery...right here in this forest. Landowners at one time included such prominent politicians as William D. Ardagh, (County Warden 1869-1871) who in 1863 owned Lot 3, Concession 3 of this Township. Sometime between then and 1923, someone built a homestead here as evidenced by the 1923 Property Assessment which indicated: 70 Acres Cleared, 30 Acres Slash – Land value $750.00, Buildings Value $300.00 The cache is a loaf size clear Rubbermaid container with a white lid.
