Geocache Description:

This is an easy small screw topped cache which is aimed at the kids or the kid at heart! It's funny what you come accross whilst on your travels, but how many times do you stumble apon a camel grazing the chilly northumbrian countryside!?! ...

A visit to longhorsley, which can be found roughly 6 miles north of Morpeth, just off the A1, will take you to a footpath on the boundary of West End farm. From near the cache site you should be able to spot a few rare breeds (in these parts anyway!) Along side Gloria the camel who is the local super star, you can also see plenty of llamas, emus & wallabies, depending on your time of visit, as the animals are put away for the night. This is the second cache here as the first went missing, it is now hidden a little further along the way to avoid prying eyes, but still only 5 minutes from parking. Take your camera along for some brilliant close ups of things you would normally have to pay to view.

Once you have spotted the camel and llamas some of the other animals may be seen in the field on the other side of the road. Take care here as cars do appear every now and then. We hope you enjoy paying this spot a visit as much as we did, it has always been a family favourite. Dan & co...
Many thanks to Rocky Balboa who originally placed this cache. I wanted to take this cache on as my family have also visited for many years, Gloria must be quite an age now. If you are lucky you will hear a booming noise that is the Emu's call, did you know they lay dark green eggs, they look like advocados. Each one is the equivalent of a dozen hens eggs. Once laid the female has nothing further to do with the eggs. The male incubates for 8 weeks, and rears the chicks, who will stay with him for usually 18 months. *******Please wear suitable footwear, the walk is short but when damp the clay soil makes this very sticky. Can be nettles depending on time of year.********
