McDonald is known as one of the four Great Captains. The others are John H. Rogers, John R. Hughes and John A Brooks.
In 1905, McDonald served as a body guard to President Theodore Roosevelt.
The Sheriff (John Pierece Matheas) of Childress County traveled to Quanah (Harden County) to call McDonald out. McDonald shot the Sheriff four times and put him back on the train for Childress. Two days later Matheas died. (Sometime in December 1893)
McDonald's Motto:
No Man In The Wrong Can Stand Up Against A Fellow That's In The Right And Keeps On A-Comin".
