Lonesome Dove Multi-Cache
OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

This cache starts at one of my wife's favorite suburban park. Stop and smell the roses (sort of, kinda of, you will see what I mean, it is the best metaphor I can think of now).
First let me explain the name of the cache LONESOME DOVE. I had this cache placed in High Point State Park in NJ, unfortunately it was not approved. The cache container was already marked with the name, so I kept the name. I named the cache after a book I was then reading LONESOME DOVE by Larry McMurtry. It is a great book which I highly recommend.
The coordinates above will take you to one of my wife's favorite suburban parks. It is stunningly unique. This is what I think is swell about geocaching, it gets me out to places, sights and experiences that are hidden in plain sight in my back yard.
At the above coordinates you will see a sign that contains a four digit number at the bottom. Take that four digit number and subtract 1699 that will give you the north coordinates to the right of the decimal point.
XXXX (four digit sign at the bottom of the sign)
-1699
.ABC
The actual coordinates of the cache is as follows:
N 40 51.ABC (substitute the ABC from the above formula)
W 74 12.505
On your way to the cache from the sign get onto the trail that starts at N40 51.093 W74 12.397.
In the cache I have four ribbons (click on the picture above), please take the ribbons as follows:
first person to find cache - take 1st place ribbon
second person to find cache - take 2nd place ribbon
third person to find cache - take 3rd place ribbon
fourth person to find cache - take the honorable mention ribbon
There is lots of overhead canopy, so be sure to have your GPS properly constantly oriented to the sky during your journey to keep the best lock on the satellites as possible.
Please be sure to recover the cache when done, so that it remains hidden. Thank you.
