Geocache Description:

This cache is located on a piece of rock that is all that is left of a large knob that was cut in half to make way for a highway.

When the road crews blasted away this hill to make room for 313, they left this small rocky knoll. If you look out from the top you will see the beautiful Rolling Fork valley stretched out below with the rim of the valley dotted with hills and knobs. One of the best times to do this cache is just before sunrise. Make sure you bring a camera.

This cache does require a climb to get to the top and is not recommended for small children. It is best to climb up from the south. You will have to bushwhack your way to the top, so I recommend long pants. Cache is relatively easy to find. Be careful along the edges of the knoll.

For anyone that has done my Kentucky Turnpike cache, I mention that there was once a travel plaza located just south of Lebanon Junction. It was located in the same location as the current day interchange of 313 and I65 just below the cache location.

There is a small place to park on the shoulder of 434 just out from under the over pass of 313. You can also park on the large shoulder of the eastbound lane of 313 or the east exit entryway onto 434.

This was the 1st cache that I wanted to place when I first started Geocaching. I have always wanted a place that I could put an large cache, and this is the place. The cache container is a large plastic 5 gallon bucket. I have placed some out of the ordinary items in the cache as well as the usual items. Check out November 11, 2004 log and December 31, 2007 log to see the pictures from the 1st and second camera.
