BLM Backwaters area South of Salmon Falls Reservoir. A beautiful place for a day of ATV riding, or a weekend of camping.
The Backwaters area is a recreational area just S. of Salmon Falls Reservoir. It’s where Salmon Falls Creek empties into the Reservoir – a slow, meandering creek, bordered by willows and sandy banks. A perfect place to take an ATV and have some afternoon fun, as well as overnight camping. I chose this place because I haven’t spoken to one single person I know that has ever been here. It’s on the road to/from Jackpot, and is accessible by passenger car, about 7 miles off of Hwy 93. Tons of wildlife including Deer, Antelope, snakes, birds, mink, wolverine, snakes, and …. Snakes. A reminder that we share this beautiful country with ALL KINDS of wildlife .. be careful.
No hints on this one.. Once you find the Cache, you’ll know what to do and where to explore. You can actually take a road all the way to where the reservoir water begins, but the ground gets a little soft about a ½ mile from the shore, so be careful. I failed to include a notebook, but I do have a pencil so please log your visit on the "Geocachig" sheet included.. I'll get a log-book in it as soon as possible.
Today, I also placed my other cache, “Backwaters – Jackass”. If you’re so inclined, and have a vehicle with a little more ground clearance than a passenger car, try this one. THIS will get you closer to nature than you have been in a long time… and bring your camera.
