Anyone that Geocaches as a family with small children knows
that it has it’s pros and cons.
Pros:
-
Great to get out with the family
-
Kids don’t have to sit still or be quiet
-
Kids get a sense of accomplishment and adventure
Cons:
-
Bushwhacking through thorns
-
Tripping over roots and vines
-
Getting boots stuck in the mud
-
Getting ¾ finished with a multi-cache only to
leave unfinished because the kids are “really done”
We have tried to do away with the cons in this series of
caches. All 3 of the Kid's
Quest For Caches are in a nature preserve that has well maintained trails.
These were set up so that you could make a 1 mile loop and do all
three if the kids are having a good day, or stop at any point should things go
awry and still accomplish a “find.” If you have family members that
enjoy caching on a higher level, they could visit “Weasel’s Revenge.”
The preserve is open from dawn to 9pm and dogs on a leash are welcome. One
thing we couldn’t change, since this is in a Wetland Preserve in Wisconsin,
was the mosquitoes so come prepared to use bug spray.
