Geocache Description:

Set in escarpment of the Sacramento Mountains, Oliver Lee Memorial State Park, 12 miles south of Alamogordo via US Hwy 54.

Dog Canyon used by the Apaches as a stronghold in the 19th century conflicts with the United States army. The original contents of this cache is Native American Indian oriented. Enjoy the visitors center and the entire park, it is very historic, beautiful and supports a variety of plant life. The walk is a little over half a mile and the cache is off the Dog Canyon trail.

Apache Cachey passed away on February 29, 2004. I have adopted her caches and will continue to maintain them in memory of her. As a fellow geocacher, I am requesting your assistance in helping me to maintain her caches in a condition that will honor her. I can be contacted through her geocaching name or my own. Desert Trek
