Golf - The Main Event |
There will be a GPS "Golf" Tournament. You only need
your GPS to play, no clubs, no experience with golf necessary!
The 'course' will be straight-forward and easy enough for even the novice
cacher. All participants have an
equal chance of winning. Skill with a GPS and experience with
geocaching will not be a consideration in your final result, but will
certainly help you get through the course more easily. Don't worry
though! You don't have to be top golf dog to win something. There
will be plenty of runner up prizes and instant winner prizes to vie for.
There will be a seven dollar ($7) entry fee for the Golf Tournament, all entry fees
go towards event expenses.
Cachers will register for the Tournament at check-in and will sign up for
a 'tee time' to go complete the course. They will be supplied with
their score cards at the time of check-in.
Golfers with the best scores in the Tournament will be awarded
prizes from the prize pool generously donated by our event sponsors.
Golf Tournament rules and instructions will be posted prior to the event
and provided. Stay tuned.

route. Many thanks to our sponsors!

Activities |
Country Club
Clue
A large game of the classic version. Country Club Clue will
involve 99 cards that will be distributed to cachers as they check in for
the event. Each card has the name of a Geocacher, a Signature Item,
or a Geocache on it. Your job, as a group, is to solve the MiGO
"whodunit"... who was doing the first finders dance at what
cache and with what signature item? You have all day to solve the
mystery but will need to rely on each other to rule out suspects.
The Putting Green
A closest to the pin exercise. There will be a 'putting green'
set up near the main pavillion. You will be given coordinates and a
marker. Program the coordinates into your GPS, write your name on
the marker, and go out to where your GPS says "Zero".
Plant the marker to show your shot. At the end of the day, the true
location of the hole will be revealed and we'll see who is the
closest. For those who have not participated in this activity
before, it's an interesting and enlightening exercise in GPS accuracy.

| For
the Kids! |
The following is
for KIDS
ONLY!
Anyone who considers themselves a kid (no gray haired kids please, I
know we have a few of those!) is encouraged to bring an item for a special
MiGO Kids Cache. The cache will be placed after the event and can be
watched by all those who helped to place it.
Also, while your parents are playing boring old golf, you can one-up
them by participating in a special scavenger hunt just for you. You
don't need to bring anything for this but your keen eyes.

| Lodging |
For those
staying the night or nights, please keep in mind that this is Michigan
State homecoming weekend. You will want to book your hotel
early. Book early! Book often! Moon Lake Campground, a nearby facility has extended a $2 per night
discount to anyone who makes a reservation and mentions they are with
MiGO. Additionally, they have donated five one night free stay
coupons for prizes at our event.
Their phone number for making a reservation is (517) 675-7212.
$25 a night gets you a site with full hookups and on average the sites are
15x40 feet. The campground has hot showers, restrooms, a 34 acre
lake with sandy beach, volleyball and basketball courts, and a convenience
store on-site. They are located at 12700 Colby Lake Road,
Laingsburg. About 15 minutes from event site. About 30 sites for the
weekend open right now. |
