Geocache Description:

This cache is an attempt to make a challenging cache for the die harders. Not everyone is expected to attempt to log this. Never attempt a cache you are not comftorable with.

Park on the South side of the river for this one and there is a nice social trail on the island to take you to the cache.

This cache is an interesting spot I had visited many times when I was younger. It is possible to reach it without aid of a boat, but it takes a little guts. Now, the words of warning.

  • *DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS THE RIVER WHEN THE WATER IS HIGH*
  • *IF USING A BOAT TO APPROACH THIS CACHE, DO SO FROM THE LOWER LEVEL*

If walking, I've found the best way to do it is to scoot your feet, not picking them up. The water off the back of the dam is normally only a few feet deep (knee level on me), so walk towards that side. You will also have to walk in the water on that side upon reaching the other side of the dam.

Once you are across, enjoy for the minute the wonderful view you will see from this location.

While in the area, there are several other caches to hunt within a few miles. You might want to pack a picnic, and make a day of it. The view at sunset from the area overlooking the dam is wonderful.

The cache is full of little trinkets found around heathers house. I will bring a travel bug back to this location once I obtain some. Sign the log book and have a good time!
