(6/27/05: Originally envisioned as a themed cache for fix-it-up items only, this cache is now open to ALL quality trades.)
There are several caches in this area which will make your afternoon in the Brighton Ski area well spent! Like the other caches, parking will be at the Silver Lake visitor center at Brighton, up Big Cottonwood Canyon and will follow the well-established trail up to Twin Lakes Pass.
Hiking is easy most of the way up. Twin Lakes Reservoir and the ski lifts add to the interesting and varied scenery. Nearing the cache I will take you on a ridge top and up a boulder field where the views will be spectacular and will make the climb well worth it. Also there are several other interesting caches nearby making your trip more worthwhile for logging finds.
Wildlife in the area is abundant and early in June 2003 when we placed this cache, we saw an impressive selection: ground squirrels, deer, ducks, little chinchillas, a fox, and most impressively a moose! I believe this wildlife selection was possible as they were few people about this day as is was intermittently stormy with hail and heavy rain (heavy thunder in the distance too) coming down on us as we placed the cache. Normally expect to see more people and fewer animals as this beautiful area is quite popular.
So slap on those hiking boots and bring a good trade item and head on up! You will have a great reading on your GPS to find this well camouflaged hide so you should have no problems adventurer!
GOOD LUCK AND “HAVE FUN MENDING YOUR WAYS”!
